HifiDIY or Aiyima TPA subwoofer board review.
I got 3 of them mounted in 3 different subs.
They require external 15-22V power brick.
They come in two flavours: TPA3118 or TPA3116 - those are efficient class D amps.
sonically they are the same, 3116 board is a bit more expensive supposedly because of higher output power.
This is simply because 3116 has thermal pad facing up and it should be accompanied by radiator, whereas 3118 had pad facing down and uses PCB to dissipate heat. Adding heatsink on top will not hurt anyone and will help with loosing some of the temperature.
This board is great to convert old passive subwoofers to active ones. You just need to cut the hole, connect cable from speaker and screw 8 screws to fix the board.
