Produced in 1985, this film was shown to new Writers Guild of America, West members for years to educate them about the history of the screenwriters union they had just joined. Narrated by former AMPAS president and Oscar-nominated screenwriter Fay Kanin ("Teacher's Pet"), it features interviews with Julius Epstein ("Casablanca"), Lester Cole ("Blood on the Sun"), Wells Root ("The Prisoner of Zenda"), Erna Lazarus ("The Donna Reed Show"), Milton Krims ("Perry Mason"), and Sheridan Gibney ("The Story of Louis Pasteur") about the Guild's founding in 1933, its first contract in 1944, the House Un-American Activities Committee and the Hollywood blacklist.
