Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed and National Assembly Member Shezra Mansab Khan are visiting the United States as the special envoys of the prime minister of Pakistan on Jammu & Kashmir. This visit occurs against the backdrop of the recent upsurge of violence in Jammu & Kashmir. In the wake of Burhan Wani’s death, Kashmir has been under curfew for the past two and a half months, and its people have been subjected to widespread human rights abuse. The visiting parliamentarians will give Pakistan’s perspective on how to address the dispute and take steps toward peaceful resolution.
