Nostalgico Slow, Fox lento (Marf, Mascheroni) - Weintraubs Syncopators, Disco “Grammofono” 1935 (Italy)
NOTE: This awesome melody was composed by Marf & Mascheroni – the remarkable duet of song writers in prewar Italy. Many Italian singers in the 1930s – such as Milly Monti, Crivel, Daniele Serra included it in their repertoire. The popularity of the song continued after the 2nd WW and such singers as Nilla Pizzi, Nunzio gallo, Jula de Palma or Narciso Parigi released their new interpretations.
The famous German dance band Die WEINTRAUB SYNCOPATORS present the tune in the jazzy/ dance version typical for that top German dance band of the Weimar republic. After the takeover in Germany of Hitler’s National Socialist Party, Die Weintraubs went on the international tour including Japan with purpose to embark in Australia. However in Canberra they were treated as citizens of the hostile nation (they were the citizens of the Third Reich) and – especially wnen the 2nd WW broke out - were not given opportunities to perform. Stefan Weintraub – the orchestra’s founder - ended up as a mechanic in Sydney and after he finally received the Australian citizenship in 1945, he was only able to play music in the emigrant revues and colourful evenings of the Little Vienna Theatre, where he played piano or drums.
