(2 Sep 2015) The United Nations (UN) Special Representative and Head of the UN Support Mission in Libya on Tuesday held consultations in Istanbul with representatives of the Tripoli-based General National Congress (GNC).
The GNC is one of two governments running the country.
The oil-rich north African country is divided between an elected parliament and government based in the eastern port city of Tobruk and a militia-backed government in the capital Tripoli.
Bernardino Leon Gross said there was very little time to resolve the issues and encouraged all parties to engage in dialogue ahead of a round of dialogue in Geneva this week.
