Shiitake dermatitis is a relatively newly described entity caused by intake of raw or undercooked mushrooms. Even though it was initially reported only in the Far East, the increasing intake of this food all over the world has resulted in the condition being reported in all continents. It is characterised by linear reddish streaks on the skin that subsides spontaneously over a few days. In this video, Prof Patrick Yesudian looks at the origins of this condition, its manifestations, pathogenesis, and management.
