The Parsi New Year, also known as Navroz or Jamshedi Navroz, is celebrated every year to mark the beginning of the new Iranian calendar. Jamshedi Navroz got its name from the legendary King of Persia - Jamshed. Jamshed was a great Iranian king and he began this tradition of a grand celebration welcoming spring and the dawn of New Year, which has been religiously followed for more than 1,000 years.
This day is celebrated at home by setting up a Navroz, a New Day table covered with white cloth as a sign of purity. On the table is placed a small bowl with sweets and goodies.
