While VW’s SUVs have been stealing the spotlight, the Jetta sedan is still going strong. In the first quarter of 2024, the Jetta was the brand's third bestselling model, with sales skyrocketing by 185% year-to-date. To keep that momentum going, Volkswagen is refreshing the Jetta and the sporty Jetta GLI for 2025 with a sleeker design, new standard features, and an affordable base price.
For 2025, the Jetta looks sharper and more streamlined. The slimmer headlights and thinner upper grille give it a modern edge. On the Sport, SEL, and GLI models, you'll see an LED light bar linking the headlights, which is super cool. The new taillights are connected via a full-width light, adding to the sleek vibe. The front and rear bumpers have been revised as well. The SE models sport new 17-inch wheels, while the SEL and GLI models get upgraded to 18-inch wheels. Plus, there are new black wheel packages available for the SE and GLI. And let's not forget the two new paint options: Monterey Blue Pearl and Monument Grey.
Under the hood, the Jetta's powertrains remain unchanged for 2025. The turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-four engine continues to deliver 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Sadly, the six-speed manual previously offered on the S and Sport models is no longer available.
For those craving more power, the Jetta GLI packs a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four, producing 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The front-wheel-drive GLI continues to offer both a six-speed manual and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The GLI also includes performance upgrades like bigger brakes, a limited-slip differential, adaptive dampers, and a sportier exhaust system, making it a true joy for driving enthusiasts.
Volkswagen has completely revamped the Jetta's dashboard. The new design features three slats running in front of the passenger and blending into the air-conditioning vent, which looks super clean. There's a new floating display to the left, with an 8.0-inch unit now standard across the lineup, replacing the old 6.5-inch touchscreen. The automatic dual-zone climate control is now standard on all Jettas and has ditched the physical dials and buttons for a new capacitive touch setup. And for all you tech lovers, a 15-watt wireless charging pad with integrated cooling is now standard on the SE, SEL, and GLI models. Volkswagen has also added more standard features to the SE model, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, voice control, and SiriusXM radio.
