While Columbia Records in the U.S. released three slow ballads as singles from Neil Diamond's Primitive album, the driving title track was released as the single in many European countries. The title track recalled the straight-forward approach of 60's Diamond songwriting, embellished with intricate-but-powerful keyboard and guitar interplay.
Like "Primitive",Neil wrote the cinematic, finger-snapping "Brooklyn On a Saturday Night" by himself."Brooklyn" was reminiscent of many of the tunes from "Beautiful Noise" in it's affection for Diamond's New York.
