Amid the escalating flood situation in Cachar and its headquarters Silchar the district administration has urged people to avoid venturing out of their houses unless it’s important. Cachar DC Kirti Jalli has urged people not to venture outside unnecessarily. The flood scenario in Assam's Barak Valley remains grim. In Silchar, floods have been triggered by Jiri, Jatinga, and Dhaleshwar, the subsidiaries of Barak River which are wreaking havoc, flowing above the danger level.
