Photography Basics for Beginners - Shutter Speed - Video Series Part 3 of 6

This is video number 3 or 6 introducing the concept of shutter speed to you. So what is shutter speed? Shutter speed is, as the name suggests, the speed of the shutter. The shutter is basically a little shutter that sits in front of your sensor and that, by opening up for a moment, allows the light to pass through and hit the sensor.
Similar to an aperture, which we learnt in the previous video, ([ Ссылка ]) it controls the amount coming through and hitting your sensor by staying open longer or shorter. The faster the shutter closes, the less light obviously comes through, and the longer it stays open, the more light comes through.
Shutter speed also has a creative control. It’s the movement inside an image - the motion blur.
There are also unintentional movements. For example, camera shake. If you have a slow shutter speed of for example 1/5th of a second, obviously without a tripod, your camera will shake while you’re taking the image. Camera shake is to avoid at all times really.
However, you can create intentional movement in an image. Obviously, the faster your shutter speed, the less movement, the more everything is frozen. The slower the shutter speed, the more you have blur in your image, or camera shake, or whatever you want to achieve.
