***Note*** I mistakenly explain that Peter is playing "Workshops" at the start of this video, which was actually just my assumption when he flashed me a Workshop during shuffling. However, he was actually playing Power Monolith with just a smattering of artifact creatures. Apologies for the confusion.
Here it is at last, the moment we've all been waiting for. Sam Tang and I bring you the action, narrating my first game from the 2019 Old School World Championship quarterfinals. This game was recorded by Daniel Chang, who does a solid job of moving back and forth to film our hands. This is a classic example of control vs. combo, back in the era when "combo" meant casting Power Artifact on a Basalt Monolith. Truthfully, the combo my opponent Peter is playing wasn't even a thing in 1994. Back then, Basalt Monolith had errata that prevented itself from being untapped using mana created by a Basalt Monolith.
This game showcases the various tools in The Deck, and discusses what strategy you can employ to take on this potent and dangerous enemy. Sam and I hope you guys enjoy the commentary, thoughts and feedback are more than welcome!
