Star Trek Lower Decks came out last year and I was admittedly not impressed. The first episode was all over the place in terms of tone, writing, and how it fits in the Trek universe. Paramount was kind enough to send me the entire first season to review and I decided to once more go back out and see if the USS Cerritos was everything it was cracked up to be. Star Trek Lower Decks eventually opens itself up to be one hell of a show, one with tons of heart, great animation, and some lovable characters. While the show won't retain all Trek fans, it does a good enough job on its own, while also saluting its past brethren.
This review was made possible by the kind folks at PARAMOUNT who sent a review copy out. This was not a paid review or endorsement of Star Trek Lower Decks, merely a Trekkie divulging his thoughts!
