Fifty years ago, an American bought the old London Bridge to to be put in the Arizona desert where there was nothing. He had a dream though and was attempting to build a city - Lake Havasu City, Arizona, USA.

It was removed stone by stone and transported and rebuilt in Arizona.

I remember this story from decades ago and as I remember it, the man thought he was buying the iconic Tower Bridge but was got the old London Bridge instead (this is a popular rumour). Robert P. McCulloch who bought it, denied this. Then it was over nothing for years, just dry desert land.

Either way, after 50 years, it all has come together and its over water and a city of 50,000 people.

I hope his diverting the river, hasn't upset the natural environment is my only concern. If it has in any significant way, I would consider this as a rich man's folly.
