Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump met Wednesday in New York with Polish President Andrzej Duda, the latest in a series of meetings with foreign leaders as Europe braces for the possibility of a second Trump term.
Greeting Duda at the entrance of Trump Tower, Trump told reporters the pair had "four great years together" and "we may have to do it again".
Some in Poland fear the get-together could hurt the country’s relationship with the Biden administration while others welcome the prospect of Duda leveraging his friendly ties with Trump to make the case for backing Ukraine.
"This is simply a private meeting in connection with my presence here in New York," Duda told reporters in New York.
Trump, who went on trial in New York over a hush money payment on Monday, is in a tight race with U.S. President Joe Biden ahead of the November presidential election.
