Systems of Classification: Natural Artificial & Phyligenetic Systems of Classifications. There are large number of systems of classification of organisms. These were proposed from time to time by taxonomist. That is the science of taxonomy developed in step wise manner over the period of several hundred years. In this video we are going to see
1) Artificial System of Classification
2) Natural System of Classification
3) Phylogenetic System of Classification
The artificial system of classification is based on one or only few characters. The classification of herbs shrubs and trees given by the theophrastus is the example for artificial System of Classification.
The System of Classification in which various taxonomic groups are arranged according to their natural relationship is called natural System of Classification. The classification given by bantham and hookar is an example for natural System of Classification.
If taxa are arranged according to their evolutionary order and genetic relationship is called phylogenetic System of Classification. The example for phylogenetic system of classification is Engler and Prantle System of Classification, Bessey System of Classification and Hutchinson System of Classification.
