The Corvair was a rear-engined car that was seemingly built to compete with the incoming waves of German cars that used similar setups. Chevy of course cheaped out where it could, but the Corvair line of vehicles were still interesting and made for fun cars. However, Ralph Nader's book "Unsafe At Any Speed" greatly exaggerated the Corvair's supposed lack of safety and swiftly killed the car's reputation. It makes for an affordable classic today.
