You don't have to buy the new Pixel 8 Pro or Galaxy S24 Ultra in order to use a similar feature on all Android devices.

Video Description

With the launch of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, Google advertised a new feature called Circle to Search. After all these months, the company has finally rolled out this feature to select devices.

Sadly, they are restricting this to a select number of smartphones but this feature launch is only a small tweak to something we've had on Android for years.
So today I want to show you how to emulate the Circle to Search feature on all Android devices as you will get virtually identical results to what Google is advertising right now.
To begin, you'll either need to install the Google Photos application or the Google Lens app.
I'll include links to both of these in the video description below, but they can be easily found in the Google Play Store for free.
Then, you will want to capture a screenshot of the image you're wanting to perform a visual search on.
If you're using the Google Photos app, you can just open it up, find the screenshot you took, and then tap the Lens button here in the bottom of the overlay.
If you have the Google Lens application, then you can either open that app directly before selecting the screenshot you saved.
Or you can share that screenshot to the Google Lens app directly.
Now, instead of actually performing a circle gesture to select the item you want to search for.
We just adjust these four corners so that we are highlighting the item we are interested in.
In the launch blog post they embedded a movie that shows someone searching for these glasses and this purse.
So let's do that here with a device that does not support the Circle to Search feature.
We first highlight the glasses and then we get to see the results here.
Or we can highlight the purse and we'll get almost the exact same results as they did in their marketing material.
So even if you don't have the Pixel 8 Pro or the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, we can perform a visual search with either the Google Photos application or the Google Lens app.
Both can be downloaded directly from the Google Play Store.
I suspect Google will eventually roll out this new circle to search gesture to a lot more Android devices before the end of the year.
These cloud-based features tend to be exclusive for a limited time.
And since Google is a search and advertising company at heart, they will want as many people using visual search as possible.
