Now that Ghostwire: Tokyo is available for Xbox I wanted to take the opportunity to do a quick video comparing the frame rate, plus a few additional scenes just showing some of the differences in Ray Tracing between the two platforms. I wanted to get an idea of the performance differences at both 60fps and 120fps using the most basic modes possible, free of any additional features such as ray tracing or the use of VSync.
The first part of the comparison uses the performance mode which has Ray-Tracing disabled. It has a target resolution of 1440p but understand that typical resolution counts are closer to 1296p. It targets a frame rate of 60fps but rarely achieves it, mostly staying around the 50-60fps mark.
The 120fps comparison uses the High-Framerate (HFR) performance mode. Again with Ray Tracing and VSync disabled. The resolution is dropped to 1080p with lowered visual settings.
I would like to stress that I do not necessarily suggest that you use either of these modes in an actual playthrough, and note that Digital Foundry recommend using the HFR Quality mode which has V-Sync enabled and at 60Hz offers somewhat stable 60fps with Ray-Tracing.
The frame rate analysis is performed as accurately as possible ensuring that the source capture is completely lossless.
