The flood situation in Assam remains dire, impacting nearly 24 lakh people as several rivers, including the Brahmaputra and Barak, flow above dangerous levels. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority has reported a death toll of 64, marking the second wave of floods since June 10. Approximately 23.9 lakh individuals across 3,535 villages are affected, with over 50,000 seeking refuge in shelters. Assam Chief Minister Sarma visited flood-hit areas in Dibrugarh district to assess damage from embankment breaches, as ongoing rescue, relief, and repair efforts continue with government support including shelters, food, and medical aid.
