This hike goes up to the top of Sandhornet mountain on Sandhornøya, which lies in Gildeskål municipality. The highest point here is 993 meters above sea level, once you have reached the top you are rewarded with a gorgeous view in all directions. The start point of this hike is either the parking lot by the ferry dock at the end of the road on Sandhornøya, or you can turn left up to Horsdal before reaching the ferry dock and park at the parking lot there, if any spots are available. This is the shortest and easiest way to the forest path, however, if that parking lot is full, you can park by the ferry dock, then either walk the road to Horsdal or simply hike along the shore to the other side, where you will find the path. The distance from the ferry dock to the peak of Sandhornet mountain is around 6 kilometers, which takes more or less 3 hours with a calm hiking speed and a couple of breaks along the way to catch the breath
