"I am completely saved by this surgery."
WATCH Chelsea's story, and see how your support of The Hospital Research Foundation Group is making a huge impact on the lives of South Australians!
At age 11, Chelsea was diagnosed with hereditary pancreatitis and told that all she could do was live in debilitating pain for the rest of her life. Through funding from The Hospital Research Foundation and Group charity KTDRA and the work of Professor Toby Coates from the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Chelsea became the second South Australian to have her pancreas removed, flown interstate, and harvested for islets. The islets were then infused back into her liver. Chelsea, now 21, has a new life!
