Tracking live with the whole band in the studio, "Black Cat" ended up with a long tail of an outro that we didn’t originally intend on keeping. We thought we would just fade the ending and be done with it, but when we started rolling, the pulsing drums, dissonant guitars and ominous string quartet started taking on a life of its own. The music became Augustinial's fight with the black cat, the hard-fought struggle of life to carve out something for your family against all odds. -Gordy Quist
