Recorded in early 1944 and not issued until 1945, this was the earliest version of the Oscar-winning song from a movie that didn’t open until January 1946! The Johnny Mercer-Harry Warren tune was performed on the big screen by Judy Garland and ensemble in MGM’s “The Harvey Girls,” which also starred John Hodiak, Ray Bolger, Angela Lansbury, Preston Foster, Virginia O’Brien, Kenny Baker, and Marjorie Main.
