Speaking about this previous judgement on appointment of judges, former Supreme Court judge Jasti Chelameswar said, "No, I don't think I did anything wrong in writing that judgement. It was a bill passed by the then-Parliament unanimously. In constitutional law, I find it difficult to believe that an elected government will have no say in the matter of appointment of judges of this country."
Speaking about the press conference held by 4 former judges of the Supreme Court, Justice Kurian Joseph said, "to me, it was a story of great expectations but it turned out to be a story of lost expectations."
When asked about his take on the Collegium system for appointment of judges, Jasti Chelameswar said he does not agree with it. "The entire process is very opaque. For several decisions, nobody understands why they are taken.
When asked about the current situation of the Supreme Court, former judge Jasti Chelameswar said, "I don't know. I do not have a TV at my home and I have not bought newspapers either. I may not be the right person to answer that."
