This was a fun hike.
Getting to the trailhead was an adventure in itself as it involves a 2.5 hour drive down some washed out road. GPS recorded close to 18 miles round trip. No water sources meant carrying in all my water, but the minimal elevation on the trail made up for the heavier pack. Hardest part was probably securing/setting up the tent in the crazy winds. The effort paid off with a walk out view of the canyon right on the cliff. The drought this year in the area really showed in the extremely low water levels. View was still gorgeous, and I'm glad it was shared with some really cool people that I got to meet that day. Stars/sunrise was otherworldly.
