BMW’s second dedicated M motorcycle has arrived, but why is it so special?
The high-performance M designation was born in 1972 as a subsidiary of BMW, but historically it has only applied to the Munich firm’s car division.
That changed in 2021 when BMW released its first dedicated M motorcycle – the high-spec BMW M 1000 RR superbike. Based on the S 1000 RR, the new machine added an exciting new level of specification and exclusivity to an already impressive motorcycle.
Now, in 2023, we have our second M motorcycle in the form of the M 1000 R naked bike. And while, from a distance, it might not hugely different to the S 1000 R that it is based on, a closer inspection reveals some pretty impressive details.
