Kolkata Rape-Murder: Doctors "Partially" Call Off Strike | Subscribe to Firstpost
Junior doctors in India's West Bengal have announced a "partial" end to their protest, days after the state's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee conceded to their demand to transfer senior police and health officials. Doctors said they will resume essential and emergency services in hospitals but will not work in the OPD. The sit-in protest will end after a march to the CBI office on September 20. Despite calling it an "initial victory," as most demands have been met, the doctors said their fight for justice is not over. The protest started after the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
