Isolations are great core exercises. Though a bit shocking and perhaps suggestive at first, continuing to practice them carves out the micro muscles necessary to achieve hip hop and belly dance moves.
Practice these moves 1-2x per week and you will be on your way to some cool body rolls. We always did isolations during dance class to strengthen the muscles in order to execute the moves properly and sharply. The focus during training can be intense, so just remember to breath.
I always like to break my isolations into two parts: upper body and lower body. In this video, we focus on both the upper body and lower body. When your upper body moves, makes sure your hips are quiet. When your lower body moves, make sure your upper body is quiet. Sometimes you can combine the two into some full on funky stuff!
For this you can wear shoes or be barefoot. You should also have water on hand.
Remember, if you want results you have to apply three rules and stick to them: Work hard, eat clean, and have fun!!
I eat a plant-based diet (mostly vegan), lift weights regularly, and do yoga, which helps a lot to supplement my Zumba routine and keeps me from plateauing -- I highly recommend it! But the working hard piece comes from within each of us... you have to commit yourself everyday to the idea of achieving the form of health you desire.
Enjoy and comment below to tell me how you feel afterwards. :)
