Hi guys
Got my Nikon Z9 finally last Monday.
Test of the 120 fps stills image quality. Perfect jpgs.
Jaw dropping awesome image quality of the JPGs sooc, also in the 120 fps mode.
Made this short video, time lapsing that 120 fps down to 24 fps, 20% of original speed. Of course this could be done also in H.265 and 120 fps directly in video mode, but the jpgs have a stellar image quality, definitely better as a single frame extracted from HEVC (H.265).
Shutter speed was at 1/2500 - for those tiny birds far too slow to get truly sharp images. The sparrows moves super fast, also does the blackbird (female in the images). Note to self: use next time 1/16,000 or even 1/32,000. 😆
I definitely hope we get this 120 fps stills mode updated to 20.8 or even 24 megapixel.
Lens used: AF-S 70-200 1:2.8E FL ED VR with AF-S-Telekonverter TC-14E III, which stops the lens down to 1:4. Honestly, this lens + TC combo is the opposite than optimal for shoots like this, but I had it on the camera and the birds where there. Imagine this with a 600 mm or the Z 400 2.8 with TC at f/4 and 560 mm.
The 11 megapixel are sufficient for 4K. The resolution of the images is 4128 x 2752 and for that sufficient for 4K videos as well as 11 x 8 or even higher prints.
Must test this first.
Can't wait for the firmware upgrade, boosting the camera to 8K 50/60p ProRes.
