Martina Purdy has been on an amazing journey through life as a BBC correspondent, a nun, and a pilgrim guide. She quit her high-profile TV job to pursue her vocation as an Adoration Sister, only to find five years later that the convent had to release her and three others because it was too fragile to sustain their formation. She landed on Holy Ground as a Pilgrim Guide on Saint Patrick’s Way, Downpatrick. The Belfast-born Canadian author covered the up and downs of the NI peace process, from Downing Street to the White House, and speaks about Life as a Journey, sharing Ten Lessons of Pilgrimage.
Martina Purdy is a former BBC political correspondent and author, who currently works as a pilgrim guide with Saint Patrick Centre, leading and promoting a new Irish Camino, St Patrick's Way. Her book Room 21: Stormont Behind Closed Doors recounts the rise and fall of the power-sharing Executive (1998-2002) forged by the Good Friday Agreement. She is also a former Sister of Adoration, quitting the BBC in 2014 to enter a religious congregation in Belfast after more than 20 years in journalism. She spent five years in the convent as Sr Martina of the Blessed Sacrament. She currently lives and works in Downpatrick. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at [ Ссылка ]
