Today was the big day for DN18 who decided it was time to test out those wings!! DN17 & DN18 were perched on the branch together. We had a clue that DN18 was going to fledge because right before flying, DN18 was triangulating ( bobbing its head up and down and side to side, in preparation for flight). DN18 takes off with purpose on its maiden flight and flies across the pasture and heads towards the trees, then circles back around and we hear a loud noise as DN18 attempted to land but continues its flight (seen flying on the left hand side of the cam towards the trees again) and is found in the claw tree or tree #4. Congratulations DN18 that was a beautiful fledge!!
DNF arrives with prey and DN17 squees and mantles it. DNF flies off and returns with a fish! DN17 mantles and claims that too - no competition at the moment from DN18!
The cam pans and we have a nice view of DN18 in the claw tree (tree #4). DN18 is 78 days old today! Thank you for watching!
