Trump's first impeachment - 2020
White House counsel Pat Cipollone claimed Democrats were “weaponizing” the House of Representatives to “investigate incessantly their political opponents” during his remarks at the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump on Jan. 21. “They started impeaching [Trump] the minute he was elected,” Cipollone said. Cipollone further criticized Democrats for “false allegations” amid the “phony investigations” into Trump. The president was impeached by the House of Representatives in December on two articles — abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The Senate will now decide whether to convict Trump of those charges and remove him from office, or acquit him.
