A six-week lockdown starting on Boxing Day has been agreed by Stormont Ministers. The first week, starting on Saturday December 26th, will have the toughest rules of all.
Measures for the six-week block will include the closing of all non-essential retail as well as close contact services, while it will be take-away only for the hospitality sector.
During the first week of the lockdown, there'll be a curfew for all businesses that CAN open, of 8pm.
That curfew also applies to people - we're being told to stay at home past that time, unless we cannot for work or caring duties.
The six-week period's rules include:
All non-essential retail will be closed.
Hospitality will be take-away only.
Leisure facilities are to shut, including gyms. Sport is also off.
No change to school timetables.
Festive bubbles still allowed.
Off-licences will be forced to shut their doors at 8pm.
Hotels will be opened until December 28 to accommodate Christmas bookings.
Dog grooming will be open.
Car washes will be closed.
We are still awaiting some more clarity over these measures, which were only decided at Stormont this evening.
The Executive is also likely to review the situation after four weeks.
