Carrie Mettler describes her life with bicuspid aortic valve, ascending aortic aneurysm, and brain aneurysm. Please note that a CT scan of the brain without contrast, which Carrie originally had, will not find a brain aneurysm - it will detect bleeding, but in order to see the bulging of an aneurysm, contrast must be used so the outline and shape of the blood vessel can be clearly seen. Also, it is important to be sure that the CT scan is read by an expert in the condition. This is an example of why the "A" in the Foundation's ABC's stands for Accurate diagnostic testing.
