Omega’s partnership with the James Bond franchise dates to 1995 when Pierce Brosnan wore a quartz-powered blue dial Seamaster on his wrist during his debut portrayal of Agent 007 in GoldenEye. That partnership continues today and is one of the most beloved relationships in the luxury watch biz.

Reference 210.90.42.20.01.001 is a unique edition of the James Bond Seamaster, created for the film No Time to Die. While past iterations of the 007 watch were presented in steel, this Seamaster keeps it contemporary and practical in lightweight grade 2 titanium. It showcases a design that one would expect from a classic military or tool watch instead of the somewhat swankier steel and wave dial iterations we’ve seen in the past.
This Seamaster is oozing with neo-vintage charm. The aluminum bezel and dial feature a “tropical” design with a matte dark brown hue that mimics how a black dial ages over time to a brownish color. The lume follows suit with Superluminova hour markers and skeleton hands in a creamy faux patina. The warm tones of the dial and bezel pair well with the grey titanium finish - it’s no wonder even Bond himself chose to wear it on his wrist.
The domed sapphire crystal is also somewhat vintage-inspired and lends itself to a thinner profile, perfect for sliding effortlessly under the cuff of Bond’s infamous black tux. Omega produced ref. 210.90.42.20.01.001 on both a NATO and Milanese bracelet. It also boasts the Seamaster’s standard water resistance of up to 300 meters. Additionally, it is equipped with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal – perfect for keeping time during even the most daring operations.
It isn’t unusual for a James Bond Omega to include extra engravings on the case back and this special edition Seamaster ref. 210.90.42.20.01.001 is no exception. Just under the broad military arrow is an inscription reading “0552/923 7697.” 0552 is a special code referring to those in the Navy, while 923 7697 is the code often used for dive watches.
The last line reads “A/007/62”, which is a nod towards 007 himself and the first James Bond film, Dr. No, released in 1962. “A” is used to let the wearer know that the watch also features a screw-in crown. Of course, the case back also includes the iconic 007 logo.
Powering the watch is the mighty calibre 8806, which boasts the distinction of a Master Chronometer. This means that the movement has met the strict criteria of the Swiss Institute of Metrology (METAS) to promise a highly reliable reading in most settings. The time-only, in-house movement is also anti-magnetic up to 15,000 gauss and operates on self-winding technology. It boasts a convenient 55-hour power reserve. Pretty impressive, even if it doesn’t come equipped with the typical 007 spy gadgetry.
This latest edition of the James Bond Seamaster is also the first time in Omega’s 9-film partnership that the actor himself helped design the watch associated with the film. Daniel Craig, who also happens to be somewhat of a watch aficionado, has brought his own intimate knowledge of James Bond to the table, suggesting that a lightweight metal would be more practical for a military man and a busy international spy. The retro elements that Craig referred to as “vintage touches of color” were added to make the watch stand apart from other James Bond Omega watches.
No Time to Die, which is set to debut on October 8th, 2021, will be Daniel Craig’s final portrayal of James Bond. If his intentions were the go out with a bang when it came to designing the most recent edition of the 007 Seamaster, we’d say he was more than successful.
