Hayagreeva / maddi
Ingredients :
Channa dal 1 cup
Jaggery 1 cup
Grated khopra 1/2 cup
Nutmeg powder a pinch
Cardamom powder 1/4th tsp
Ghee 2-3 tb sp
Cashew aad raisins a few
Method :
1.soak channa dal for 1 hour ad pressure cook for 4-5 whistles.
2.once the pressure comes down drain out the excess water and keep dal aside
3.melt jaggery and strain to take out the impurities.
4.place a kadai on stove, add ghee and fry cashews and raisins. Take them out on to a plate.
5.add cooked dal and mash slightly, add in jaggery water and cook on low flame.
6.cook until the mux starts thickening. Add in ghee little by little while cooking.
7.now add khopra, nutmeg powder and cardamom powder.
8.once the halwa leaves bottom switch off the flame and add fried cashew and raisins.
9.hayagreeva or maddi is now ready to serve.
