Tignale, located in the Alto Garda Bresciano Park, thanks to its position overlooking the lake, has been named the Balcony of Garda and is an international tourist destination.
The municipality of Tignale is made up of 6 hamlets, none of which bear the name of Tignale: Gardola (seat of the town hall), Piovere, Prabione, Aer, Olzano and Oldesio.
The history of Tignale has ancient origins dating back with certainty to the Tiberian age.
Thanks to the mild climate of the lake and fertile soil, the settlement of the first inhabitants, the cenomaniacs, was favored.
Around 1200 the Lodroni family contributed to the growth and splendor of the places, which then continued with the dominion of the Scaligeri, who built a castle on the remains of a similar construction.
At the end of the fourteenth century the Visconti, first, and the bishopric of Trento, then, obtained the jurisdiction of the area.
Only a few years later Tignale passed under the dominion of the Serenissima Venetian Republic.
