Are you finding it hard to relate to other parents since your child came out as transgender? Or are you finding that other parents are not relating to you? There are two different reasons for this.

First, remember that other parents are still having the same parenting challenges that you are, minus the specific issues that are relevant to your child being transgender. Those things connect you.

Second, people don't understand what they don't know and haven't experienced, so it makes them feel like they don't have a way to communicate with you about this topic. So they pull away.

Let's discuss both of these things some more.
