My motto is to have fun in the kitchen, work with what you have and like. Do not be afraid to experiment with flavors. I love raisons and dill pickles, so I went from there in regards to my tuna and adding some zip.
My three goals were to:
1. Have fun and keep my food from getting boring
2. Make my sandwich even more packed with nutrients
3. Increase the flavors to give a "wow" punch to my sandwich
I added:
1. Cheddar cheese
2. Diced dill pickle
3. Raisons, ( I didn't have any grapes, so I thought raisons would add the "sweet" flavor)
4. Boston bibb lettuce leaf
5. Mayo
6. Tuna
7. Sprouted bread
The overall result was rather quite good as the raisons, sweet with the pickle, sour and salty, combined with the tuna and cheddar cheese made a savory sandwich.
In my opinion, sprouted bread is best when grilled with butter in a grilled cheese, French toast, tuna melt, garlic bread etc..., as it is quite bland on its own.
Next time, I will go for sundried tomatoes as they will provide a "sweet and chewiness" to my tuna melt, and I will see if I like that even more.
Best Always,
jamie & paul
