The Ball python (Python regius) is the most popular pet snake in the world. Many people keep this species at home, either a natural color or some morph. It is native to West and Central Africa. Ball pythons are exported in high numbers especially from Togo, Benin and Ghana. Some are wild caught, but most of them are "ranched". What does that mean? Learn more about the pet trade!
