Hi, my name is Wen Huber
and I'm going to tell you about the time God gave me a second chance at life.
it took place in China around 1999.
I was less than 1 years old and I was involved in a fire incident.
Nobody knows exactly what happened or even where it happened.
Because after the fire I was immediately left at the doorsteps of an orphanage
with no name, birth certificate, or even a note saying "goodbye."
I lived the first 6.5 years of my life at the orphanage.
I lived there in fear
I lived there in confusion
I was just a kid, and still, am.
But there were problems.
You see, I was burned the most, down near my feet and I actually lost my left foot to the fire which made getting around even more difficult than the other kids. But I managed.
God was with me at all times and he had blessed me with the most
the priceless thing any orphan could ever want, a family.
My parents could've picked any orphan in the world, but they chose me, a severely burned kid,
with no trace of his biological parents, with confusion in his eyes, with a list of problems,
and financially I was going to be difficult. I was blessed.
That Winter, I left my foster home with my Mom and Dad, this was scary. I was leaving everything I've ever known to follow these random people across the world.
I remember crying the day I had to leave my foster home because I didn't know exactly
what was going on, all I knew was that this was going to be the last time I would ever see them again.
After I said my goodbyes I got onto the airplane and rode off to my new home.
Everything from that point on has changed my life for the better. I received help with my wounds, my family provided me with a prosthetic leg so that I could get around, I was surrounded by my loving siblings,
and most importantly I was introduced to God. People always ask, " why does God let bad things happen?" God is not the creator
of evil. He let this happen to me because it gave me the opportunity to a better life. I could've grown up in China,
lived a miserable life, and never learn about the word of God. I could hate God for what he allowed to happen, but why would I?
That one incident with the fire leads to a chain reaction of great things.
I couldn't be more thankful for what God has given me.
I could've died that night. But I didn't. I survived that night. I lived to today. I learned about him. and I was blessed.
