Welcome to Bishtrovert!
Join us on an exciting journey as we explore the historical and natural wonders of Gatineau Park, Quebec, located just ~450KM from Toronto and near Ottawa's border. We embarked on this adventure with a Turo rental, and after reaching Parking Lot P6, we hiked a short trail that led us to the mesmerizing Chute Waterfall.
Our next stop was the fascinating Abbey Ruins, constructed in 1935 by Canada's 10th Prime Minister, William Lyon Mackenzie King. The ruins are made from stone remnants of buildings destroyed or demolished, including the Centre Block of Canada’s first Parliament Buildings, which were destroyed by fire in 1916. The site features stones, a mantel from the House of Commons, a bay window from the Batson House, and more.
Lastly, we visited the Main House on the 12-hectare Willson House estate. This Queen Anne Revival style house is a two-and-a-half-storey, gable roofed structure with a large verandah. The house boasts a rustic appearance with its combination of rough-cut stone, wood shingles, and half-timbering.
