Join me on a van trip in Colorado to collect red mud for dyeing fiber with earth pigment. The iron oxide filled mountains are a fantastic landscape to explore for color inspiration from the minerals embedded in the earth. This tutorial will show you how to prepare fiber to work with earth pigment, create a red mud slurry as a dye bath, and tie dye cotton textile in a Ne-Maki style to design a unique earth inspired surface pattern.
