Set to music by Alicia Scott (1810 - 1900) the inspiration for this great melody came from an old Scottish poem by William Douglas (1672?-1748). Scott came from the Scottish borders, and Douglas, similarly, from Dumfries and Galloway. Here the music is played by Scottish violinist Feargus Hetherington and London guitarist Ollie Clark, arranged by the performers. They repeat both sections each time, unlike the sung version.
