This is a focus stack of the eye of Vespa crabro, known as the European hornet.
This focus stack was shot using an MJKZZ Qool rail, Canon EOS 70D with the MJKZZ tube system, a Raynox DCR-150 tube lens, and a brandless 4x UPlan FLN microscope objective. I used the Venus/Laowa/Kuangren KX-800 flash in a styrofoam box for lighting, and a LEGO micro-IMP ([ Ссылка ]) as specimen holder.
Individual frames were cleaned of dust particles in Adobe Photoshop and stacked in Zerene Stacker, using the Rocker function to created a spiral stacking path with -1% to 1% variation in both X and Y.
This individual wasp was collected as part of a biodiversity inventory of a local small nature reserve.
