Video on top common problems, issues and fixes on GMC Terrain SUV from my own experience. This vehicles come powered by either 2.4L engine or a 3.0L engine. In this video I am focusing on 2.4L as that is the most used engine and the engine with lots of potential issues.

This engines are famous for oil consumption. I will talk about it in the video in more details. Most important thing to remember is to do regular oil changes every 3,000 miles or less. Other very common thing is a rear main seal leak which is quite a costly repair. It happens due to faulty PCV valve.

Water Pump on GMC Terrain will often be making grinding or squealing noise. Even after replacing it might still do the same. Problem is in the Water Pump sprocket. Specialty GM tool has to be used when replacing the water pump to hold the sprocket.

Stabilitrak (Electronic Stability Control System) will often be faulty and trigger Traction Control Light on, ABS light on and the stability control will be disabled. Most common problem is in corroded wheel speed sensor wiring or in front wheel hub assemblies. This is not a very expensive fix, but it happens often and it is a quite big safety concern.

HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning System) will often make problems for the owners of GMC Terrain. Some owners complain of strange odor coming from HVAC system, some of a/c lines leaking, some of heater not working (which usually takes heater core to be flushed or replaced), etc...

Display Screen will often just freeze or stop working on this vehicles. Most often it will get frozen while switching from reverse camera to normal display settings. It could be a problem in the wiring behind the screen or in the display screen itself.
