The short shots lesson focuses on correcting the situation where the injection mold cavities do not completely fill resulting in a incomplete plastic part. There are several possible causes for this defect.
The approach used to teach how to correct short shots is to first explain why they occur "from the plastic's point of view", then go through what plastic and/or mold conditions need to be changed to correct the problem. Finally, the specific control adjustments on the injection molding machine that will change those plastic conditions are taught.
