On May 18, 2019, High School students from all over Washington DC metro area gathered at Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute to share best practices and brainstorm ways to reduce plastic and food waste in their schools and communities. The event was organized by the Smithsonian Conservation Commons in partnership with the Global Co Lab Network to build a local and global Eco Teen Action Network to support youth action on critical sustainability issues. Beth Ebisch and Grace Eggleston are a couple of American University student filmmakers who came out to the Eco Teen Action Network Open House as representatives of the Center for Environmental Filmmaking. They have worked with award winning producers and are not only motivated to create more content that increases awareness about important environmental issues, but to also inspire and open new doors for teens to get involved with such exciting initiatives. Courtney R Clarke interviewed Beth and Grace.
