Hindustani classical music(vocal)
Yashaswi Sirpotdar
(desiple of pt.padma talwalkar)
Yashaswi Sirpotdar is amongst the chosen few of the next generation of Hindustani Classical vocalists, in whose hands Khayal gayeki will not merely flourish, but will seek new and exciting trajectories. She brings together her formidable talent, an exquisitely tempered voice, and years of extreme training to a point of utterly delightful finesse.
She announced her inborn musical flair as a mere toddler when to her family's delight she would run her little fingers on her grandmother's harmonium, displaying a keen sense of melody. Thus began very early Yashaswi's mentoring under her grandmother. At the age of 5, she was accepted as a Shishya by the living legend, the greatly revered Padma Talwalkar who remains her Guru to date.
Just as a major river carries in her the waters of many different streams, so does Padmatai embody the mergence of Jaipur, Gwalior and Kirana Gharanas, for amongst others, her chief Gurus were Gangadhar Pimpalkhare, Mogubai Kurdikar (mother of Kishori Amonkar) and Gajananrao Joshi. In a manner then, one should say, the musical essence of all these exalted doyens also flows through Yashaswi's being.
Besides the merit of scores of years of training under Padmatai, Yashaswi has accompanied her in over two hundred concerts. She points to this fact specifically to say she has thus learnt the critical art of designing and presenting a well-proportioned live performance. To her own credit she has over a hundred individual concerts covering most eminent festivals of music. She regularly performs on television, does lecdem series and has several audio discs. She is also the recipient of many prestigious awards, chief amongst them the Kesarbai Kerkar Scholarship awarded by N.C.P.A, Chhatra Gandharv Purskar of the Maharashtra Government and Aditya Birla Kala Kiran Puraskar in 2013.
